Go Big or Go Home. That's the saying on the North Side of Maui near the town of Paia. It won't take you long to figure out why. A great little town with wonderful food and a distinct island charm. Go Big means waves - not just waves - but HUGE waves. It also means strong winds where windsurfing and kite surfer are concerned. The worlds greatest windsurfers live and play in the giant swells off Ho'okipa. Both World Windsurfing and Kitesurfing championships are held here. If you have adventurous souls with you it a great half day trip to check it all out and take some photographs.
Baldwin beach is another great beach in the area, but one in which you can sit on the sand and enjoy the water which can be calmer than Hookipa and may have just the right amount of waves for some body or boogie boarding. Facilities and fresh water showers are available. Unbelieveably beautiful ocean, beach and sky colors make Baldwin Beach one of our favorites for hanging out. |
